Sweet little Joshua...here we come!

We got our LOA today...official Letter of Acceptance
from China for adopting our little boy, Joshua!
That was our last big hurdle!
Now we are waiting to be assigned our travel dates,
and we should be on our way within 5-8 weeks!
We are SO EXCITED and SO GRATEFUL to our Lord
for continuing to pave the way to our little boy!
His foster mom told us that he can say one word in English...
"bear", referring to the stuffed bear we sent to him. :)
She also said that he is a very happy boy with a big smile on his face.
He likes trying new things and loves to talk with people.

Little Cutie-Pie

So, several days ago Braden and I took naps at the same time.
Guess who woke up first?
Yes...I awoke to a sticky little white face next to mine.
I would soon come to realize that
while I was still enjoying my snooze,
my little sweet pea was giving himself a facial
using an old tube of Desitin baby butt cream!
By bedtime, all was forgiven. :)

Our little fireman turns 3!

Braden enjoyed his "fire truck themed" birthday party!

Joshua turned 2 years old on August 22nd!

During Braden's birthday party on the 21st,
we shared a special moment for Joshua,
since his birthday was going to be the next day.

Braden will soon be a big brother!

We are excited to introduce to you our little Jia Xiang,
whom we will affectionatly name Joshua Kenneth Zittle!
The name Joshua means "God rescues."
We first met little Joshua while looking through the profiles of
children in China's "special focus adoption program."
The children in this program are those who have
moderate to severe special needs, and who have not been considered
by any families in over two months of their being listed.
China passed a law in September 2010 allowing families
who are still waiting on their original adoption
to adopt an additional child using the same dossier,
as long as one of those children is in the "special focus program."

While looking through the profiles of these precious children,
the face of a little 22 month old boy stole our hearts.
His estimated birth date is Aug. 22, 2009.
At only several days old, he was found abandoned
at the entrance to a mall in Pingdingshan, Henan Province.
He was found to have abdominal distention
and was close to dying due to severe intestinal obstruction.
As a result, an emergency surgery was performed
on him to remove some of his colon.
He had a second surgery several months later.
His special needs are post-operative congenital megacolon,
a cyst on his left kidney and six toes on each foot. :)

We are overjoyed that we have been approved by China to
adopt him, and we absolutely cannot wait to bring him home!
(Although we know that a wait is imminent...3-5 months.)
We are grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to give not one child,
but two children, a forever family who will love them unconditionally
and raise them to know Jesus.

We must raise another $15,000-20,000, in the next few months,
but we trust that God will provide all the resources we need.
We cannot allow the fear of finances to keep us from following
God's call on our lives to adopt this little guy.
We also know that although he has special needs,
God will equip us to care for him and meet those needs.

Braden has been praying for his “little ‘brother-sister’
from China” for close to a year now,
and he loves to carry around his stuffed panda bear
who he has affectionately named “China Bear.”
Now that we have a face to one of our little china babies,
he enjoys watching the video of Joshua, and often prays,
"Thank you, Jesus, for my little brother."

CUTE SAYINGS by BRADEN

One night I was calling Tim to come into the living room. He didn't come right away. After a bit, Braden said to me, "Mommy, Daddy disobeying!"

One day Braden was sitting on the couch with his little Bible. I went to sit beside him and he said, "Mommy, you go get your Bible, too!"

One day, after I had changed Braden, he stood up on his changing table to hug me. Standing on his table made him about half a foot taller than me. While we were hugging, he said, "Mommy, you are David. I am the giant!"

Fun at the Beach!

Braden enjoyed time at the beach today
with his Powell cousins from Pennsylvania.
They are visiting us because Uncle Jim has a
church conference at the VB Convention Center this week.
We are so excited that they are here!
Before...
                                              After...Woops!

Our visit to the Magic Kingdom

We had a wonderful time!
Braden did amazing. He went from 10am-Midnight
with only a 45 minute nap! His only melt-down came at 11pm
because he wanted to ride on the peter pan ride one more time,
but the line had already closed. :)
This would make a great picture
for a Disney World advertisement. :)

Some of the highlights for Braden were:
Riding on Dumbo with Daddy...
Seeing Mickey Mouse in the parade...
And of course eating his first ever lollipop!
Our special day ended with a fascinating
electrical parade and fireworks show!
