A window into Joshua's first 2 years of life.

Today was the most amazing day.
It was almost too much to take in at times.
God has truly been saving our little boy,
from the time he was just 4 days old.
This morning we were able to meet Pam Williams,
the lady who runs the Swallow's Nest where
Joshua has spent these past two years.
She and her husband had no intention of starting a foster home for babies with special needs,
and had never felt a pull toward adoption.
But one day, they found themselves holding an abandoned baby
who was sick and needed medical care.
After she was released from the hospital,
they could not bring themselves to drop her at the orphanage,
so they received permission from the government
to keep her in their home until she was well.
They began to love her like their own, and later adopted her.
She was the first of many babies
who Pam and her husband would take into their home over the years
and nurse to health until they could be adopted by foreign families.
They now have several homes with multiple babies in
them being cared for by chinese au pairs and volunteer helpers.
Joshua was one of those babies.
She said he came to her after his first colon surgery.
She does not know who paid for that surgery,
but she knows that his second surgery was paid for by the
ISRAELI GOVERNMENT.
Amazing!!
The Israeli officials chose to pay for the surgeries of 13 Chinese babies
in honor of a certain number of years of peace with China.
He was one of those 13 babies.
Again...amazing!!
Not only did Pam share lots of
information with us about Joshua's past,
she also took us to the two homes he has lived in.
Here are some pictures of the two homes, of Joshua's bed,
of me and Pam, and of many of his little friends who we met today.

It was special to be able to visit,
but so hard to walk away with him, having to leave the others behind.
Pam told us that some of the children have been nursed completely back to health
and yet still continue to wait for a family to choose them.
Some of them are already four years old.
What must it be like to see one of your little friends come back with a Mommy and Daddy,
and wonder, when will it be my turn?
So heartbreaking...

  1. Wow, how wonderful that you were able to go and see where he has been and meet who he has been with. Praise the Lord for the blessing of a look into his past. How heartbreaking for the other children though.....

  4. We love all the updates and pictures and videos. I have always said to Steve the hardest part of picking up a child for adoption would be to leave all the others behind. I would certainly just want to bring home 10 of them.

What thrills me most is to see how quickly and perfectly God is answering prayer---you can see it in how Joshua is gripping your arm when you are holding him--and that was in what used to be his home--but it is YOU, his Mommy who he is gripping onto, not wanting to run from you and to them. It is seeing him stare at Tim's lovely round head and look so comfy because God has already put it in his heart that is Daddy who loves me. God went before you and prepared his little heart for the two of you----our prayers that his transition would be super smooth have been answered. We are so thrilled!

Eager to see y'all next week!

  5. Jen that is awesome that you got to see Pam. I am so happy everything worked out :) I am so happy that we have so much of their past that we will be able to share with our boys and let them know before their mommy's found them how loved they were.
    Enjoying all the updates!
